NEW YORK (AP) - Verizon Communications Tuesday said it filed a complaint with the Federal Communications Commission against Cablevision Systems Corp., alleging the cable company employed anti-competitive practices in negotiations relating to sports programming.
Cablevision unit Rainbow Media Holdings operates regional sports networks in New York that show games of local teams such as the New York Knicks, New York Rangers and New Jersey Devils.
Verizon claims Cablevision has refused to negotiate for programming rights to Fox Sports Network New York, Fox Sports Network New England and Madison Square Garden Network. The phone company wants access to the networks for its FiOS video service customers in the region.
