CALGARY, Alberta (AP) - If Johnny Weir ever gets back to the Olympics, it will have to be more fulfilling than Turin was for the three-time U.S. champion.
Weir finished fifth in Italy after trailing only eventual gold medalist Evgeni Plushenko through the short program. But it wasn't his placement that particularly bothered Weir, and he still is talking about his unsatisfactory experience in Turin.
"I was really disappointed with the Olympics and how it went and then sort of the media circus that I created over there all the bad things that happened after with fans and media and things like that," Weir said during the World Figure Skating Championships. "I was really disenchanted and I was like, 'Ah, I don't need to do worlds.'
