HOUSTON (AP) - Ben Glisan Jr.'s appearance as the government's last major witness against former Enron Corp. chiefs Kenneth Lay and Jeffrey Skilling wasn't his debut as a prosecution witness. But he was better dressed.
The navy suit, red tie and light blue shirt he donned Tuesday for the beginning of what is expected to be lengthy testimony was a sharp contrast to his appearance when he first testified for the government in an Enron trial.
In October 2004, Glisan wore a green prison-issue jumpsuit and blue canvas shoes when he testified against four former Merrill Lynch & Co. executives and two former mid-level Enron executives accused of pushing through a sham sale of power plants mounted on barges to the brokerage that helped Enron appear to meet earnings targets. The Merrill defendants and one of the Enron executives were convicted, while an in-house Enron accountant was acquitted.
