SAN ANTONIO (AP) - Texas-San Antonio fired coach Tim Carter on Tuesday after 11 seasons, his last ending with an 11-17 record and a first-round loss in the Southland Conference tournament.
Carter is the winningest coach in UTSA history, with a 160-152 record, and led the Roadrunners to the NCAA tournament in 1999 and 2004. However, UTSA finished tied for eighth in the Southland and was 26-30 over the past two seasons.
"We have high aspirations for the our program and after a lot of deliberation, I feel it is time for a change in leadership," athletic director Lynn Hickey said.
