CHICAGO (AP) - Gov. Rod Blagojevich won the chance to seek a second term Tuesday, shrugging off an opponent who accused him of mismanagement and corruption, while five Republican candidates competed to challenge him in November.
Separately, a former Army helicopter pilot who lost both legs in a 2004 grenade attack in Iraq sought the Democratic nomination for the House seat occupied by retiring GOP Rep. Henry Hyde.
With Blagojevich potentially vulnerable over corruption allegations against his administration, Republicans fought hard for the gubernatorial nomination, despite a crisis in their own party over scandal and infighting.
