HAMILTON, Ohio (AP) - SMART Papers LLC has filed for Chapter 11 bankruptcy protection, blaming rising costs for energy, wood fiber and transportation, the specialty papers company said on Wednesday.
SMART Papers has a papermaking center in Hamilton, about 20 miles north of Cincinnati, and distribution facilities in Buena Park, Calif., and West Chicago, Ill.
Wachovia Capital Finance of Fort Lauderdale, Fla., and CIT Group of New York will provide debtor-in-possession financing, the company said.
