OAKLAND, Calif. (AP) - A bomb scare shut down a commuter train station during rush hour Wednesday, causing major delays throughout the east San Francisco Bay area, authorities said.
The incident started shortly after 8 a.m. when two men at an Oakland station shouted that there was a bomb on the train that had just left, said Linton Johnson, a spokesman for Bay Area Rapid Transit.
The train arrived about one minute later at the West Oakland station, where BART police evacuated the station and searched the train with a bomb-sniffing dog, Johnson said. They did not find anything suspicious and gave the all-clear about an hour later.
