AUBURN HILLS, Mich. (AP) - Miami center Shaquille O'Neal will return to the Heat's lineup Wednesday night against the Detroit Pistons, despite a sprained right thumb.
O'Neal missed Tuesday's 100-96 loss at Minnesota, but said before Wednesday's game that he would play. He injured the thumb while being fouled on a dunk attempt in Sunday's win over the Knicks.
"I couldn't hold the ball yesterday, but it is better today," he said. "I'd be playing even if it wasn't Detroit — we can't afford to lose two in a row right now."
