HOT SPRINGS, Ark. (AP) - Julia Braseth and Crystal Zick each scored 15 points, and Grand Valley State held American International scoreless for the final six minutes to win the NCAA Division II national title with a 58-52 victory Saturday.
Niki Reams added 14 points for Grand Valley (33-3). Erin Cyplik pulled down 14 rebounds and Braseth had 11 boards.
"Our players have really just worked and worked and worked. Tonight it paid off. We couldn't be more excited for them, because they earned this honor," Grand Valley State coach Dawn Plitzuweit said. "American International is just a phenomenal team. To come out on top just speaks volumes of what our players have done and how much time and energy they have put in."
