NEW YORK (AP) - A fire erupted Sunday at a federal jail where suspected terrorists are held, prompting hundreds of inmates to be moved to another wing. No injuries were reported.
The fire at the Metropolitan Correctional Center in downtown Manhattan started in an air duct near a kitchen area and was not deemed suspicious, fire officials said.
About 270 inmates were moved temporarily from one wing to another before the fire was brought under control, the fire department said. Two inmates with asthma were given special treatment.
