BANGKOK, Thailand (AP) - Opponents of Thailand's beleaguered prime minister on Monday rejected his offer to include them in a new government if he is re-elected, heightening political tensions less than a week before national elections.
Later in the day, police defused a small bomb planted at the headquarters of Thailand's main opposition party a half-hour before it was rigged to explode.
Nobody claimed immediate responsibility for the brick-sized bomb, but a spokesman for the Democrat Party blamed political opponents. Police said the bomb would have shattered windows within a 150-foot radius, according to the spokesman, Ong-art Klampaiboon.
