NEW YORK (AP) - Buckeye Technologies Inc. stock fell Monday in the first day of trading after the specialty fibers maker lowered its March quarter earnings outlook due to high energy bills and costs associated with a manufacturing plant upgrade.
Shares of Buckeye fell $1.38, or 14 percent, to $8.88 in midday trading on the New York Stock Exchange.
In the fiscal third quarter ending March 31, the Memphis, Tenn.-based company said Friday it now sees earnings near break-even, or zero cents a share.
