KEARNEY, Neb. (AP) - The National Audubon Society's Rowe Sanctuary south of Gibbon on Monday announced the purchase of 200 acres of land on the Platte River in Buffalo County.
The 1-mile stretch of riverfront will be used for wildlife habitat, particularly for sandhill cranes in the spring.
The Audubon Society paid $800,000 for the land. A $375,000 grant from the Nebraska Environmental Trust Fund helped make the purchase possible.
