(AP) - Reliever Jim Brower has earned a spot on the Baltimore Orioles' opening-day roster despite a 6.75 ERA in spring training.

The right-hander was added to the 40-man roster Tuesday, a move that assures him a ticket north to Baltimore. He was signed to a minor league contract on Jan. 27.

"We need some experience in the bullpen, and he brings that," Orioles manager Sam Perlozzo said. "He's certainly somebody we wanted, and we're tickled that he's still going to be with us."
