SACRAMENTO, Calif. (AP) - Gilbert Arenas, the NBA's fourth-leading scorer, missed the Washington Wizards' game at Sacramento on Tuesday night with an apparent case of the flu.
Arenas felt ill at the Wizards' morning shootaround after scoring 40 points in a 116-98 victory over the Golden State Warriors on Monday night, coach Eddie Jordan said. The two-time All-Star guard was replaced in Washington's starting lineup by Antonio Daniels.
Arenas averages 29.1 points, trailing only Kobe Bryant, Allen Iverson and LeBron James atop the NBA scoring list. He missed just one of the Wizards' first 69 games, sitting out of a home game against New Jersey on Dec. 13 with a badly bruised back.
