Light Quake Shakes Mojave Desert

RIDGECREST, Calif. (AP) - A magnitude-4.1 earthquake struck the Mojave Desert Tuesday about 115 miles north of Los Angeles, the U.S. Geological Survey said. There were no immediate reports of damage or injuries.

The temblor, centered 5 miles east of Ridgecrest in Kern County, occurred shortly after 5:30 p.m. at a depth of 6 miles, the USGS said.

The shaking was felt as far north as the resort town of Panamint Springs in Death Valley National Park and near Barstow, the USGS said.
