Cambodian Prime Minister Wants Envoy Out

By KER MUNTHIT

PHNOM PENH, Cambodia (AP) - Cambodia's prime minister said Wednesday that a U.N. human rights representative was no longer welcome in the Southeast Asian nation after the envoy criticized the government's crackdown on dissent.

Prime Minister Hun Sen made the comment one day after Yash Ghai, U.N. Secretary-General Kofi Annan's special representative for human rights in Cambodia, said human rights and the political situation in Cambodia has improved little under Hun Sen's rule.

"I wish to give you (Ghai) back a warning and send this message to Mr. Kofi Annan that he should remove him" from his current position as a special envoy, Hun Sen said.
