FORT LAUDERDALE, Fla. (AP) - Brian Roberts deserved a little enjoyment during the offseason.
The Baltimore Orioles second baseman reached new heights in 2005. Besides batting a career-high .314 and making the All-Star team for the first time, Roberts added another dimension to his game, one that distinguished him from the stereotypical leadoff hitter: power.
He hit 18 homers, drove in 73 runs and increased his slugging percentage by 36.1 percent the greatest improvement by any AL player from 2004 to 2005, according to the Elias Sports Bureau.
