TOKYO (AP) - Japan's jobless rate fell to 4.1 percent in February, down from 4.5 percent from January and highlighting recent strengths in the labor market, the government said Friday.
The data, released Friday by the Internal Affairs and Communications Ministry, beat expectations of economists surveyed by Dow Jones Newswires who predicted the jobless rate would fall to 4.4 percent.
Government officials welcomed the results, though Chief Cabinet Secretary Shinzo Abe said the country was still grappling with problems such as a high jobless rate among youth.
