WASHINGTON (AP) - Katie Couric's move to anchor the "CBS Evening News" is unsettling for many people accustomed to watching her in the morning as they eat breakfast, hustle children to school and prepare for work.
An AP-TV Guide poll found that about half of those polled, 49 percent, said they would prefer to see Couric stay in her longtime role as anchor of NBC's "Today" show. Some 29 percent, said they'd prefer to see her on the evening news.
While people seem slow to give up old viewing habits, the poll suggests Couric is making the transition at a good time. None of the evening news anchors dominates the public's attention.
