LONDON (AP) - Union leaders representing 13,000 British workers sought meetings with BAE Systems PLC management after reports Thursday the defense company was to sell its 20 percent stake in Airbus.
"We want to find out if production will remain in the UK or whether it will be shifted to the countries where the new buyers are based," Amicus union officer Ian Waddle said. "The question is what this means for the future of the 13,000 workers whose jobs depend on Airbus."
Airbus has two manufacturing sites in Britain: One in north Wales and the other near Bristol, England.
