Ed Conroy Takes Coaching Job at Citadel

Friday, April 07, 2006 5:36:50 PM

CHARLESTON, S.C. (AP) - Ed Conroy took over The Citadel basketball program Friday, leaving an assistant coaching job at Coastal Carolina to return to his alma mater.

Conroy was a three-year starter for The Citadel in the mid-1980s, playing for current athletic director Les Robinson. Conroy also rose to the rank of lieutenant colonel in the Corps of Cadets, the highest rank achieved by a basketball player in the school's modern era.
