BEACONSFIELD, Australia (AP) - Rescue crews searching for three workers trapped in an Australian gold mine found one body Thursday, the mine's operators said. The fate of the other two men remained unknown.
The miners were 3,034 feet underground at the Beaconsfield Gold Mine on the southern island state of Tasmania when a small earthquake triggered a rock fall late Tuesday, the Beaconsfield Gold Mine Joint Venture company said.
Fourteen other miners working underground when the quake hit managed to reach a safety chamber and escaped unscathed.
