England Gambles on Teen for World Cup

(AP Photo/Tom Hevezi)LONDON (AP) - Arsenal's Theo Walcott was placed on England's World Cup team Monday even though the 17-year-old striker has never played in a Premier League game.

England coach Sven Goran-Eriksson also included injured stars Wayne Rooney and Michael Owen as well as several other players who have barely kicked a ball the last few months.

Walcott joined Arsenal in January from Southampton of the Football League Championship when he was still 16. Eriksson has never seen him play in person.
