FORT LAUDERDALE, Fla. (AP) - China won the synchronized 3-meter springboard competition Thursday night, earning the first gold medal at the 2006 FINA Diving Grand Prix.
Wang Feng and He Chong led from the first round, totaling 436.080 points to win the event. Americans Troy Dumais and Mitch Richeson took second (406.860), followed by Austria's Matthew Mitcham and Scott Roberson (397.230).
"On our execution and synchronization, I don't think we did very well," Feng said through a translator. "The wind was a factor earlier in the competition, but not so much during the final."
