SAN FRANCISCO (AP) - Barry Bonds still uncoils at the plate like a striking cobra. Unfortunately, he plays left field like a hippopotamus looking for a good mud bath.
For one day, or even one historic homestand, it hardly matters. As the season wears on, though, manager Felipe Alou is going to find himself with some tough decisions to make.
Does he leave Bonds in to set records, as Alou did the last two days in blowouts with the Cubs? Or does he take him out in the late innings to save games?
