MAPUTO, Mozambique (AP) - Prosecutors have charged the son of Mozambique's former president with masterminding the assassination of the country's top investigative journalist, according to a report Saturday.
Nyimpine Chissano was likely to be arrested soon, according to the newspaper Mediafax. He is the son of Joachim Chissano, who stepped down as president in 2004.
The charge sheet accuses Chissano of ordering the 2000 killing of Carlos Cardoso and funding the assassins, the report said. Cardoso was killed while investigating a huge banking scandal.
