SUVA, Fiji (AP) - Election officials began counting votes Monday in Fiji's parliamentary elections with the caretaker prime minister predicting a strong victory for his ruling party in this racially divided South Pacific nation.
Initial results were expected later in the day.
Election officials estimated some 300,000 people, about 64 percent of registered voters, took part in the seven-day election. The turnout in Fiji's last election in 2001 was 79 percent turnout.
