BALTIMORE (AP) - Regal Engagement won the Grade II Black-Eyed Susan Stakes on Friday when Smart N Pretty was disqualified from first place for interference.
Smart N Pretty held the lead in the stretch when she drifted out under the left-handed whipping of jockey Norberto Arroyo Jr. and appeared to bump Regal Engagement. Smart N Pretty went on to finish first by 3 1/2 lengths, but the racing officials quickly posted the inquiry light and Ramon Dominguez, the rider of Regal Engagement, lodged a claim of foul.
The order of finish was quickly reversed. Regal Engagement was declared first in the $250,000 race for fillies, Smart N Pretty was put back to second and Baghdaria finished third.
