SYDNEY, Australia (AP) - Up to 300 Aborigines living as refugees just outside their own town after fleeing clashes by rival gangs may have to move elsewhere, a government official said Tuesday.
Wadeye an isolated community of 2,500 people in Australia's rugged Northern Territory has been plagued by violence between two Aboriginal gangs over recent months, leading to the arrest of at least 55 people.
Many residents have fled their homes for makeshift tent camps outside Wadeye to escape bandits armed with spears, crowbars and machetes, officials and local media reports said.
