WASHINGTON (AP) - The Newseum has received $52 million in gifts from eight major media companies and families as part of an effort to open a new facility, the museum dedicated to journalism and the First Amendment said Tuesday.
The donations include $10 million from The New York Times Co. and $10 million from News Corp., which owns Fox News Channel and the New York Post.
The gifts will help pay for construction of the $435 million building, which is scheduled to open in fall 2007 on Pennsylvania Avenue, officials said.
