KINSHASA, Congo (AP) - Congo arrested a group of foreign security workers, including three Americans, for allegedly plotting a coup against the state, a government official said Wednesday.
The Tuesday arrests came just two months ahead of landmark national elections that Congo hopes will help it emerge from years of war with a democratic government.
The group of about foreign security workers which included three Americans, 10 Nigerians and 12 South Africans was made up of former soldiers who worked for a Congolese security agency, Interior Minister Theophile Mbemba said.
