EAST RUTHERFORD, N.J. (AP) - Carlos Ruiz scored with four minutes remaining in regulation to give FC Dallas a 2-1 victory over the New York Red Bulls on Wednesday night.
Ruiz, who also had an assist on his team's first goal, got the ball in the penalty area and did a spinning 360-degree move to get away from defender Taylor Graham and get off a hard left-footed shot that eluded goalkeeper Tony Meola. It was the sixth goal of the season for Ruiz, good for second in the league.
The Red Bulls took the early 1-0 lead when Seth Stammler scored in the eighth minute, his third goal in the last two games. Midfielder Mark Lisi made a nice pass to the streaking Stammler on the left wing, and he blasted home a low shot from 10 yards out.
