ATLANTA (AP) - The Arizona Diamondbacks finally broke their scoreless streak. Juan Cruz kept his going. The right-hander pitched seven shutout innings in the longest outing of his career, and the Diamondbacks broke a 24-inning scoring drought with two unearned runs in the eighth for a 2-1 victory over the Atlanta Braves on Thursday night.
Shawn Green lined a two-out, two-run single off Mike Remlinger to break up the scoreless game. The Braves' bullpen nearly wiggled out of a bases-loaded jam after starter Horacio Ramirez ruined a strong outing with a crucial throwing error.
Cruz (3-3), who started the season in the bullpen, hasn't allowed a run in his last two starts and has 14 straight scoreless innings overall.
