 SACRAMENTO, Calif. (AP) - Sacramento Monarchs coach John Whisenant lost a game hours after finding out he lost out on the Sacramento Kings' head coaching job. But neither one could compare to another loss Whisenant might suffer.
Following the Monarch's 74-71 loss to San Antonio on Friday night, he revealed his 85-year-old mother, Virginia Whisenant, was clinging to life on a respirator in a hospital in Muskogee, Okla.
Whisenant said he would be flying out of Sacramento early this morning to be at his mother's side with other family members.
