Kabul intelligence chief Humayoon Aini was returning from a meeting just south of the capital when the bomb hit his convoy in Musayi district, said Amanullah Ghazar, the Kabul police chief.

It blew up one vehicle, killing a local politician, a village elder and the car's driver, he said. Aini was traveling in another vehicle and was not hurt.
