KINSHASA, Congo (AP) - Two U.N. peacekeepers who were taken hostage in eastern Congo in May have been released, but five others remained in the hands of Congolese militiamen, a U.N. spokesman said Tuesday.
The seven Nepalese members of the U.N. peacekeeping mission in Congo were captured by the militants May 28.
"The two blue helmets were freed with no conditions and are healthy and safe," said Jean-Tobbie Okala, spokesman for the U.N. mission in Congo. It was not immediately clear why the other five were still being held.
