SAN JOSE, Calif. (AP) - In a sign that the widening stock options scandal may be entering a new phase, a former Silicon Valley chief executive has been warned that he could face criminal charges over questionable practices at his company, according to a published report.
Gregory Reyes, the former chief executive of Brocade Communications Systems Inc., has been notified he could face both criminal and civil actions, The Wall Street Journal reported Tuesday, citing unnamed people familiar with the matter.
Criminal charges, if filed, would be the first since irregularities in granting potentially lucrative stock options first emerged as a possible problem for more than 65 U.S. companies.
