SYDNEY, Australia (AP) - A powerful earthquake struck near the Pacific island of Vanuatu Tuesday but caused no injuries or damage, officials said.
The magnitude 6.7 temblor struck at midmorning and was centered about 140 miles northwest of the capital, Port Vila, and about 100 miles below the earth's surface, the U.S. Geological Survey said.
Vanuatu disaster official Job Esau said there was no damage or injuries at Port Vila or any of the country's outlying islands.
