YUMA, Ariz. (AP) - A 17-year-old boy has died of injuries suffered when a vehicle packed with illegal immigrants overturned while fleeing the Border Patrol, bringing the accident's death toll to 10, a Mexican Consulate official said.
The boy died Friday at Banner Good Samaritan Medical Center in Phoenix, where four other injured migrants were in stable condition, said Jorge Solchaga, head of the protection department of the Mexican Consulate in Phoenix. A baby girl delivered prematurely after the accident to an injured woman also was in stable condition.
The SUV went out of control Monday about 30 miles north of Yuma and rolled when the driver tried to avoid a spike strip Border Patrol agents had placed in its path.
