Dollar Falls Against Major Currencies

Tuesday, August 15, 2006 4:11:47 PM

NEW YORK (AP) - The dollar fell against most major currencies Tuesday after data showed inflation at the wholesale level edging up only slightly — casting doubt on prospects for another interest rate hike by the Federal Reserve.

The 12-nation euro bought $1.2782 in afternoon New York trading, up from $1.2719 in New York late Monday. The British pound rose to $1.8931 from $1.8878.

The dollar also fell against the Japanese currency, dropping to 116.07 yen from 116.67 yen.
