TOKYO (AP) - Japanese stocks rose in early trade Wednesday following Wall Street's overnight strength. The dollar was down against the yen.
The Nikkei 225 index added 180.84 points, or 1.14 percent, to 15,997.03 points at the close of morning trading on the Tokyo Stock Exchange.
The broader Topix index, which includes all shares on the exchange's first section, was up 18.13 points, or 1.13 percent, to 1,623.25 points.
