JAKARTA, Indonesia (AP) - Nine Islamic militants jailed for minor roles in the Bali bombings that killed 202 people had their sentences reduced Thursday to mark Indonesia's independence day, a justice ministry official said.
It is an Indonesian tradition to cut jail terms on holidays, but the decision was likely to anger countries that lost citizens in the twin Bali nightclub attacks four years ago. Eighty-eight of those who died were Australian.
Nine men imprisoned on Bali island had their sentences cut by four months, said justice ministry official Djoko Bambang Untung.
