ROME (AP) - Reggina escaped demotion from Serie A but received a 15-point penalty Thursday from a sports tribunal in the latest ruling resulting from Italy's game-fixing scandal.
Reggina, which finished 15th in Serie A last season, was indicted on game-fixing charges this month. A prosecutor had asked the tribunal to relegate Reggina to Serie B in addition to penalizing the team 15 points.
The tribunal also penalized Serie B team Arezzo nine points, the Italian soccer federation said. Arezzo finished seventh in the second division last season.
