CHARLESTON, S.C. (AP) - Almost two months after a federal judge ordered an Egyptian freighter to remain in Charleston, the crew feels trapped on their own ship.
"We are worse than prisoners," Mohammed Ellewaa, the 45-year-old captain of the Edco, said in broken English. "Homesick? Yes. The crew asking, need to go home."
The ship was ordered not to leave until an international lawsuit involving cargo and the Edco's sister ship is resolved. One outcome could be putting the ship up for auction.
