LAGOS, Nigeria (AP) - Gunmen seized two foreigners in Nigeria's oil-producing region Thursday and shot dead one soldier in the latest hostage-taking to hit Africa's largest petroleum producer, officials said.
The gunbattle in the oil center of Port Harcourt also injured one soldier and one militant, military spokesman Maj. Sagir Musa said. He had no details on the abducted foreigners' nationalities or employers.
Late Wednesday, six foreigners kidnapped in a nightclub raid in Port Harcourt were released after the government paid a ransom, an official said Thursday.
