 GARY, Ind. (AP) - School officials broke off contract talks with striking teachers Friday, saying the weeklong work stoppage was illegal.
"We will not negotiate with an entity violating the law," the Gary Community School Corp.'s attorney, Gilbert King Jr. wrote to the teachers union.
He said state law makes it "unlawful" for school employees to strike.
