OAXACA, Mexico (AP) - Business owners pledged on Friday to hold a one day strike to demand the government resolve a three-month protest by striking teachers that has cut into tourism and other commercial activity in this colonial city.
With demonstrators camped out in the city center, blocking roads and taking over media outlets, about 1,000 business owners met to announce the protest scheduled for Tuesday, in which they will refuse to open stores, restaurants, hotels and other enterprises.
They asked colleagues to hang white flags outside their shuttered locations as a symbol of protest.
