PITTSBURGH (AP) - Willy Taveras' hitting streak reached 29 games when the Houston Astros outfielder doubled to center field on the third pitch of the game by the Pirates' Zach Duke on Saturday night.
It was the second game in as many nights Taveras extended the longest streak in Astros history with a hit in the first inning. He singled leading off the game against the Pirates' Victor Santos on Friday night, one of Taveras' three hits in the game.
Taveras has gotten a hit in his first at-bat in 13 of the 29 games.
