BRIDGEVIEW, Ill. (AP) - Defender Dasan Robinson scored his first MLS goal, and it gave the Chicago Fire a 1-0 win over the Colorado Rapids on Saturday.
In the 12th minute, Fire captain Chris Armas sent a corner into the box and Robinson headed it into the right side of the net. The goal came shortly after Fire goalie Zach Thornton made saves on Colorado's Thiago Martins and Daniel Wasson.
The Fire almost made it 2-0 in the 89th minute, but Diego Gutierrez shot the ball wide left on a penalty kick. Calen Carr made a run toward goal and was awaiting a cross when was tripped in the box by Hunter Freeman. The referee tossed Freeman out of the game for preventing a goal-scoring opportunity and awarded a penalty kick to the Fire.
